Mandatory Student Activity Fee Referendum, Senate Election, & Presidential Special Election
VOTE TO SAVE STUDENT CLUBS AND PROGRAMMING
SAY YES TO MANDATORY
SA Referendum | 9:00 am on 09.14.26 until 4:00 pm on 09.18.26
The Student Association exists to connect undergraduate students to campus life. Our purpose is to empower undergrads to shape their own unique and unforgettable college experiences beyond the classroom.
Everything that SA has to offer is made possible by the Mandatory Student Activity Fee (which is billed simply as the Student Activity Fee).
The Student Activity Fee is the only fee on campus that gets voted on, approved, managed, and spent by undergraduate students. Every two years, the undergraduate students vote in what's called the Referendum. This vote decides whether to fund SA's budget or not for the next two years. When you vote, you will be asked to choose between a mandatory fee or a voluntary fee. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to collect voluntary fees with tuition bills. The real choice is to fund the SA and SA clubs (with a Mandatory Fee) or defund the SA and SA clubs (with a voluntary fee).
This year, SA is also proposing a Fee increase from $109 per semester to $115 per semester. SA does not receive money from any other means, and 100% of your Student Activity Fee goes towards the SA budget, which funds 200+ Clubs, 30+ annual Events and Programs, Services, Advocacy, and Student Government. An increase of $6 per semester would provide SA with greater financial flexibility to continue investing directly in students. It would strengthen our ability to support club budgets and supplemental funding opportunities, help organizations plan meaningful programs and activities, and allow SA to continue offering events that bring the undergraduate community together - from major events like International Fiesta to creative programs like make-and-take crafts. It would also help protect important student services and initiatives from potential reductions caused by rising operating costs.
Voting mandatory is the same as voting YES to SA, SA clubs, and student-run programming. Voting voluntary is the same as voting NO and canceling SA, SA clubs, and student-run programming.
The link to vote will be posted here once it is made live for the Referendum week, September 14th-18th, 2026.
